The Children’s Village
Helping a venerable NY organization attract younger donors, volunteers and provide a supportive experience for families
ADDRESSING MULTIPLE NEEDS WHILE INCREASING FUND-RAISING EFFECTIVENESS
The Children’s Village has a long history beginning in 1851 as a Juvenile Asylum for children living on the streets of New York. The modern-day Children’s Village is based in Westchester with branches throughout the Hudson Valley and the New York Metro area. They came to Ashworth Creative looking for a website that could provide lots of information but in a way that was logically categorized and easily navigable.

WORDPRESS AS PREFERRED PLATFORM FOR CONTINUITY AND EASE OF USE
WordPress platform was preferred because they were already familiar with and it easily integrated with all their third-party software and enabled them to have total internal control without the worry of future expansion needs. The new site was designed and built with flexibility and the possibility of expansion in mind.

CREATING RESPONSIVE WEBSITE WITH AWARENESS OF PHONE-PRIMARY USERS
Naturally the Children’s village site is responsive, but it was particularly important to cater to the audience who are using their phone as primary point of access. Atypical to most websites, the site was designed to allow visitors to access information without pressure to act, this was particularly important for potential foster parents and parents of children in their programs that were interested in learning about additional services.

INCREASED FUNCTIONALITY FOR A BROAD ARRAY OF TARGET AUDIENCES
We made sure that all of priorities were met without crowding the site with too many overlapping topics. Annual events were highlighted and encouraged participation and donation. Photography throughout was used to help show and tell the Children’s Village story and present a largely upbeat image for the organization.
